Protecting the privacy and identity of our users is very important to us. Therefore, we have disclosed in our privacy policy how seriously we take the issue of data protection and what is to be observed.
Who can see what?
You can only be found in JOYclub with your nickname. If your nickname is unique, it can be found by external search engines in connection with forum posts you have made. However, a guest who has discovered you in this way can only see the topics you have commented on - entire posts cannot be read by guests.
Guests only have a very limited view of content in JOYclub. For example, profiles cannot be viewed, only the main picture and the nickname are used in some places.
Some important tips for your identity protection in JOYclub:
- Your main picture: is also shown to guests as a preview in the member search. Therefore, only use what you want to show publicly.
- Your nickname: Should not be a reference to your real name, do not use nicknames, under which people know you, who should not find you here.
- Use private photo albums: Pictures that you do not want all members to see are best kept in private albums. This way you can decide for yourself who can see which pictures.
- If you post pictures in photo categories or groups, please note that they will then be shown to all members and guests in the preview version as well. In the groups there are also private albums, to which then only group members have access.
- Write only contributions, to which you can stand at any time. Also in the virtual space we strive for a respectful use of language and a harmonious coexistence.
- Be careful with real names, e-mail addresses and phone numbers. These details should only be given to selected members in the non-public area of JOYclub (e.g. via ClubMail).
Can I also be found via Google search and other search engines?
We can attract interesting new members by listing them in search engines. It is therefore essential to let Google and Co. "read" some of the information. However, this information is selected in such a way that no personal profile can be created from it.
A guest who comes to JOYclub via Google has only a very limited view of content. All non-members will only see the nicknames, the small preview images (thumbnails) and a notice that images and texts are only visible to members. We are aware of the fact that these restrictions do not guarantee 100% privacy protection (which nobody can offer you on the Internet). However, they help to make it as difficult as possible to link content in JOYclub with your personal data.
How can I stay camouflaged in the office?
If you want to use JOYclub in the office or in public, but are worried that someone might take offense at the pictures you show, you can use our office mode.
The office mode switches JOYclub to a more discreet layout and darkens images so that at a fleeting glance only a gray box is visible instead of an image. If you move the mouse pointer over a grayed out image, the gray haze disappears and you can view it normally. If you move the mouse pointer away again, only an innocent gray box is visible again.
The office mode is optimized for the use of ClubMails and Forum and gives JOYclub a harmless, discreet look. However, it also has its limitations. If there is something captious in a headline, that can also interest some bosses who are looking over your shoulder.
You can also switch to office mode by pressing the ESC key. Press the ESC key again to return to the normal view.
