JOYclub now offers over 5 million members a sex-positive space for exchange, personal development and the living out of one's own sexuality. Accordingly, very different characters, points of view and preferences on a variety of topics meet in our forums.
The declared goal is to create a space, especially with this diversity, in which all interested parties feel comfortable to open up and contribute. The JOY team supports this by pre-screening topics and moderating published threads.
Topic review
In the topic review, we receive all topic suggestions submitted by members in the public forum.
The JOY team reviews them for compatibility with the Community Guide and Terms of Use, as well as a constructive approach to discussion that allows for an open exchange.
Here you can find tips on how to prepare a topic proposal appropriately.
How and by whom is moderation done?
The focus is on the community and constructive discussion
The moderation of the public forum is the responsibility of the trained JOYclub community management team. This team makes decisions in line with our values and works towards maintaining a respectful discussion and, if necessary, encourages individuals to do better in the future. In case of recurrence, measures are taken to protect the community.
We are aware: Moderative decisions are not always comprehensible to the individual. Moderative comments provide transparency and guide the further course of the topic. The interpretation and implementation of the rules is the responsibility of the JOY team and does not require justification.
Measures can be:
- The deletion of individual posts or threads of conversation over several posts. This can also affect posts that only refer to posts in need of moderation.
- The editing of the title or a post
- The splitting of a thread
- The (temporary) blocking of individual members from a thread or the forums.
- The (temporary) locking or deletion of a thread.
- In the case of repeated or exceptionally community-damaging conspicuousness of a member, the temporary or permanent suspension from JOYclub.
What is being moderated?
The basis for moderation are the values and rules formulated in the Community Guide and Terms of Use, especially prohibited content.
As a rule, moderation will be applied to posts containing:
- Personal attacks, nastiness or provocations: The tone should be polite and objective. Personal attacks, spitefulness or provocation have as little place in the JOYclub forum as discrimination or defamation of other members, their profiles or social groups. Different points of view can coexist. If you want to contradict other contributions, then express yourself respectfully and criticize the content of the contribution, but do not attack the author directly or indirectly. Clarify personal differences by private ClubMails and not to the detriment of the forum discussion.
- Lack of topic relevance: The topic creators and most discussion participants want a diverse exchange on the initial question of the thread, so private chatter or digressive comments make the discussion confusing. If off-topic chatter predominates in a thread, we reserve the right to intervene with moderation and delete off-topic posts. Relate your constructive contributions accordingly to the questions posed at the beginning. You can open a new topic proposal that develops from a discussion in a thematically appropriate subforum.
- Discussion about moderation decisions: The JOY team makes its decisions in the context of each exchange, with an eye toward maintaining constructive discussion and keeping the values of our community in mind. Posts that question or evaluate these decisions distract from the actual topic and will be deleted. If you have any questions about moderation, please contact the JOY team via Support.
- Privately shared content or personal data: People share very intimate things with each other in JOYclub. Keep content and information that has been privately shared with you to yourself and do not share it publicly through our forum. Report abusive communication or violations of our community guide to support in confidence. There is no place for public pillorying in the JOYclub forum. Communication in JOYclub offers you security. Therefore, refrain from sharing e-mail addresses, telephone numbers or other means of contact.
- Political and ideological content: JOYclub sees itself as a pioneer for a more sex-positive world and enables content that deals with or is suitable for helping all people to achieve more sexual happiness and recognition. Apart from this, JOYclub is not the appropriate place for political opinion making or the promotion of political parties or world views.
- Contents relevant to criminal law: JOYclub is not a legal vacuum. Contributions, which offend the valid rights of a member or the rights of a third person, are to be omitted.
- Advertising or spam: In our forum, we offer our members a protected space for content-related discussions focused on sex & eroticism. Contributions, which serve the advertisement of your own or other's services, products or offers, as well as spam, disturbs this. We are aware that it is not always easy to distinguish advertising from helpful information, for example in the context of an exchange of experiences about sex toys. Accordingly, the JOY team weighs up in the interest of the community and removes content that is perceived too much as advertising due to its content or frequency.
- Health concerns and propagation of unprotected sexual intercourse: The health of our members is very important to us. When exchanging information in the forum, please refrain from remote diagnoses, therapy suggestions or advertising statements on the use of medicines, treatment measures or recommendations of individual doctors. Factual reports of experiences are most helpful for other medical laymen. Content on drugs, medications and practices that injure the body or endanger health are generally inadmissible and require the exceptional approval of the moderation. JOYclub also supports safer sex. Calling for or propagating unprotected sex is undesirable.
- Sexual services: Sexual services of any kind have no place in JOYclub. Refrain from making or soliciting offers of such services. This includes, in addition to sex work, the selling of worn lingerie or similar cases of making money from the preferences of others.
Final words
Sexuality is as much a personal issue as it is a socially relevant one. We would like to..
- provide a sex-positive safe space where you can feel comfortable sharing regardless of preference, experience level, gender, nationality, age, or relationship type.
- be a space for constructive and respectful discussion of socially relevant topics around our focus on sex & eroticism, which experience has shown to cause very different attitudes to clash.
The moderation of the forum serves to do justice to this area of tension in the sense of our values. Moderation decisions are subjective, individual decisions that the JOY team makes to the best of their knowledge and belief, always taking into account the big picture as well as the context of the individual case.
Ultimately, however, the following applies: Even we are not infallible. If you don't agree with a moderation decision, we'll be happy to review it with our support team. Tell us why you feel you have been treated unfairly. We will look at the case again and revise the decision if necessary. You do not, however, have the right to a detailed explanation of the decision.
